Avalanche supporting Airborne - Live Music review

The amount of headbands, hairflips and backbends that Avalanche perform during their energetic performances needs to be studied so we can tell chiropractors their secret to not breaking their necks.
Avalanche are Aussie dad rock icons, and their newest album 'Armed To the teeth’ was our first album review featured on World here. They’re currently on tour with Airbourne providing an amazing support performance. The minute that Avalanche step on stage, they’re back to the relentless energy that you experience when you’re listening to their album. If support acts are meant to warm up, Avalanche set a fire that you need an AVALANCHE to put out (prepare for lots more puns.) From the very beginning, I noticed the audience start to move and scream, getting excited for what was to come. Shout out to one guy at the front who was head banging the entire time! We really respect your commitment and how much energy you put into the music you love.
Veronica campbell was an absolute firehouse on the guitar. She puts her entire body into it in such a fun and metal way.

Her dynamic performance feels almost intimate, like we’re watching something we shouldn’t - especially when she interacts with her husband, Steven, as they are often described as ‘giving audiences a peek into their bedroom.’ I think it’s really great that they use their performances to celebrate each other - as I have previously stated, their marriage is prevalent in their music. To find a partner that you can connect with in such a way, through the power of music, a voice and a guitar, a musician and a musician as well as a husband and wife, is really beautiful. Their connection makes the band unique, in my head, it almost defies the rules of rock and roll because they are sharing a man and woman connection that’s stronger and deeper than inviting a girl in the crowd on stage because she’s different and not like the other girls (sorry, that’s never happened ever - I just read too much.) Congratulations to Steven and Veronica Campbell for recently celebrating their anniversary on stage.

I like to think I am a good judge of character and I can sense sincerity from a mile off. Steven Campbell as frontman and leader, despite not doing anything different from any other rock star, has a surprisingly humble energy about him. The beauty of being so close to the front of the stage, is I get to notice things. I notice how much he enjoys performing, interacting as much as he can with the crowd, sharing happy smiles with rhythm guitarist Blake Poulton, a look that seemed to say ‘Look how far we have come.’ and ‘Look how great this crowd is.’
His energy was so high and fun in a way that felt humble, like him and the audience were feeding off each other. “Who likes to party?” he asked the crowd, who erupted in cheers before they sang one of their recent hits “on the bags again.”

Sharing in Steven’s humble energy was both rhythm guitarist Blake Poulton and Drummer Bon Lowe who put everything into their performance.

Avalanche were the PERFECT support band because their energy is amazing to get the crowd going. I have already praised their newest album ‘Armed to the Teeth’ for its relentlessness in hard rock and enthusiasm. By the end of their set, the audience wanted more.

Following Avalanche was band Asomvel, from the UK. Their energy wasn’t quite as high as Avalanche but still helped warm up the audience for headliners Airbourne.

Asomvel and Avalanche had done their job RIGHT because the crowd were raring and ready to go for Airbourne.
