RELEASED TODAY: Louis Tomlinson - “How Did I Get Here?”

Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles releasing music on the same day was not on a lot of people’s 2026 bingo cards. Louis’ new album “How Did I Get Here?” Is his best work yet. He stands out completely on his own and uses his distinct voice in a genre that really suits him.

Louis’ voice sounds summery and fluttering in romantic tracks like “Lemonade” “On Fire” and “Sunflower.” Lemonade, in particular, is a standout for me - its catchy guitar hook, shouty chorus and Louis British charm make it a perfect mix to be the next big hit.

“Lazy” is a complete 360, using a lower and darker register along with a thick reverb reminiscent of early music by “The Neighbourhood.” It’s a song that perfectly matches the vibe of slow and lazy days.

“Palaces” brings us back into the fun, upbeat summer vibes. It’s definitely one of my favourites on the album.

In “Last Night.” “Broken Bones” and “Dark To Light” he slows it down with softer ballads and sing along choruses.

“Imposter” “Sanity” and “Jump the gun” brings the mood back up with fun and flashy hit tunes. I love the use of guitars in his songs as they suit his voice. I’d really enjoy a slightly more rock style album from him.

Finally, it ends with slow, dreamy track “Lucid” where he describes the disassociation of his life and the confusion behind his daily experiences. Louis has such a lovely trait in these slower songs that make it feel like he’s singing you to sleep.

This album is very well thought out. The structure plans the songs at the right time, highs and lows well spaced out lead to a satisfying listening experience. It’s packed with radio hits and absolute bangers. The album definitely sounds like summer, which is interesting due to its January release date. I think Louis is trying to cure our winter blues with this fun and upbeat album.

I’ll be seeing Louis myself in Manchester and also be begging and screaming for a photo pass for another of his shows. This album has made me an even bigger fan than I already was.
